Your comment is fantastically put I enjoyed reading it because you took your time and appreciate it. Still, Bourne 5 has him finally chasing someone in a car chase instead of being chased, and it leaves open a new world of possibilities, despite its important, but forgettable core. I prefer the premise of the Treadstone (2019) show, and that was a shitstorm in several areas (it’s still pretty interesting). Does it lead anywhere? It should have, but it still leaves room for more.īourne 5 copies Supremacy and Ultimatum more than it should: someone he cares for dies in the beginning (fatal injury would be more ok than this), a government guy wants to spy more than he should, a lady that hunts for Bourne then vouches for him and turns against government guy, guys in the CIA’s Treadstone are still trying to come for him, Bourne is still trying to remember this one memory. It’s realistic (to a fault), and it’s a different take on the lives of assassins with the touch of civilians similar to the one from Identity. Jeremy Renner did a good enough job, and the premise was interesting at best. The finale was depressing since it drives home the reality of government coverups, especially Landy being cooked. The chemistry was mild, the tone was darker than normal, and the lab shooting was traumatizing at worst. Anyways, I get that Legacy is meh compared to the original trilogy. It should be known that Tony was a writer for the first 4 Bourne movies, which is likely why Bourne 5 feels more different than it should be. Legacy with Tony Gilroy is a different turn. I’m pretty sure that wasn’t a trope in the books. I will acknowledge any downfalls they have, especially the reoccurring trope of having a person close to Bourne killed in the beginning to motivate him (also in Bourne 5). I like the sharper tone and merged arc of those two movies, and I prefer Supremacy a little over Ultimatum. The peak action scenes with well-directed music and plot really put Bourne in his cool phase, and I personally use them as productivity inspiration. The other assassins were mostly just there, though. Supremacy and Ultimatum with Paul Greengrass shift the franchise towards action and character building, especially building Nicky, Abbott, and Landy. All in all, it was progress on the right fronts with a hook for more. Kane’s assistant” scene was a good take on having a different perspective. It gave Bourne not only a good taste on normal life with Marie (and good chemistry of course), but also the hope for one. It’s mild in action and tone compared to the other ones, but that’s a good entrance for a franchise about assassination. Identity with Doug Liman is the foundation of the rest in music, plot design, and visuals. I have preferences, but that doesn’t mean I’m limited to one movie. Damon, it should be noted, is committed as always, grimacing and gray, while solid supporting work is done by Tommy Lee Jones and Alicia Vikander, the latter of whom brings a sly stoicism to the part of a young CIA surveillance expert who thinks she can bring Bourne in.I like the pros and cons of each one. (Bourne is watching one target, others are watching him, still others are watching those watchers-and we’re watching them all.) As with the Athens section, it’s all so expertly choreographed and edited that it makes similar, signature moments from Brian De Palma, in the likes of Body Double and Blow Out, seem like they’re taking place in slow motion. As this is all narrated via various channels of communication-audio and visual-the sequence becomes a meta consideration of the concept of audience. Later, there is an intricately staged meetup sequence in which Bourne is running one con, while the various CIA agents on site are not only trying to thwart him, but also attempting to undermine each other. The first involves a game of cat and mouse in the midst of an Athens riot, in which Greengrass raises the level of difficulty for himself by creating an atmosphere of chaos, and then deftly navigates it via his jittery camera and editing technique. WHAT IS THE SEQUENCE OF THE JASON BOURNE MOVIES MOVIEIf the movie overcomes its lack of purpose-as well as a clumsy attempt to be timely via a subplot involving Internet privacy-it’s due to two signature set pieces. Jason Bourne mainly exists to perpetuate its own franchise, which will likely happen seeing as this reunites original star Matt Damon and signature director Paul Greengrass.
